Christian Life Coaching with Daniel Kemp: Finding Faith and Clarity

I’m not one to get into traditional devotional practices, mostly because I didn’t grow up with them. I went to a non-sectarian school from kindergarten through college, and my family wasn’t the type to pray together. But I was constantly in conversation with God, no matter the time or place. I never really saw what I had with Him as a religion, it was more of a relationship. Over the past decade, though, I drifted away, and it was only last year that I truly recognized it. I’ve been working on reconnecting, not just to bring things back to where they were, but to make them even better and deepen the ties.

For my mission, I found an ally in Daniel Kemp, a life coach based in the United Kingdom. “Life coaching is forward-looking. Every individual has a past but we’re not digging around into that. We talk about the strengths that a person has in the here and now, and how that can help them to reach their goals and ambitions,” he says of his job. These could be personal or professional. If you’re not quite sure what it is you want, he can also help you figure that out.

He has no strict limitations on who he works with and is open and flexible, but his expertise is in Christian life coaching.

Under this niche category, he has created three strands: discipleship, devotion, and destiny. Discipleship involves being better aligned with the teachings of Jesus Christ. “It might be that we work through lifestyle choices, there might be particular habits or particular things in your life that you feel that you want to deal with or move beyond,” he cites examples. Devotion covers one’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the spiritual disciplines one has. “Here, we’re talking about what’s it like when it’s just you and God, or you and Jesus Christ together in the room? What does reading the Bible look like? Are you attending church? What about fasting?” he rattles off. For destiny, he helps set both short-term and long-term plans through a Christian lens. It’s about understanding what God has for you in your future, and helping you recognize and move into your calling,” he elaborates.

Each meeting with Daniel involves a lot of reflection and fresh realizations. “All I do is ask questions. I don’t know the answers, but together, we can talk it through so you can discover things about yourself. What I’m doing is allowing space for clients to think,” he describes.

His gentle inquiries have a way of bringing to mind past miracles, and remembering the gifts we have previously received tend to build courage for what lies ahead. There’s nothing like knowing that Someone’s got your back.

Daniel’s faith is infectious, listening to him talk about his love for Jesus Christ and vice versa is inspiring. He has a Bible verse for every occasion and emotion, hearing all about them got me curious about the word of God. He encouraged my search for understanding by sharing apps, songs, shows, and links to helpful online resources. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the learning.

He reminded me to carry the lessons in my daily life and align them with my decision-making and goal-setting. When we worked on practical objectives, Daniel remained patient as I dilly-dallied in pinpointing my aspirations and struggled distilling them into specific and realistic short-term to-dos. Once my assignments were clear, he checked on my progress and kept me accountable even in between sessions. When I failed to fulfill my commitments, he made sure I stayed kind to myself. He modeled compassion time and again, always directing me to the perfect example of it in the Lord. And during my tiniest wins, he would cheer me on.

Before being a life coach, Daniel has had a lot of practice extending guidance and support to others. He has over two decades of experience working in secondary schools, running drama departments and teaching English. During the latter stage of his teaching career, he was Head of Year, responsible for the pastoral care and overall welfare of a specific year group.

His wife, Yvette, is also a life coach. “Yvette coaches in the leadership and management sector. While I was still teaching, I would observe her and I felt that it was right for me to pursue that calling too,” he explains. This led to his decision to shift careers and get certified at The Coaching Academy. He earned a Distinction upon completing his diploma.

“I just love working with people, I love talking to people, I love the privilege, really, of being able to share in people’s personal journeys in helping them to move forward and to become, ultimately, better versions of themselves,” he reasons.

Hiring a life coach who is naturally passionate about what they do can make all the difference. When their motivation is rooted in sincerity, they go the extra mile and make you feel you truly have someone in your corner.

“Relationship and rapport are really important. So during the free conversation, we would talk about what it is that you want to get from the coaching, and then we will decide together whether I’m the right person to help you. And then we make our plan together from there. If I don’t feel like I can help you, I will recommend someone else that I feel can,” he promises.
