Walking outside Industriya Marikina during a photo shoot last Monday, I spotted this banner.
Litson cake? Hahaha! Love the idea!
I snooped around a bit and found out that a doctor is behind this very interesting cake.
Dr. Harriet Cheng started the bakeshop, Nothing But C in 2010. After having two miscarriages, she had to stop her medical practice and turned to baking instead.
At first, they only offered their specialty, super moist chocolate cake covered in dark chocolate fudge. Later on, customers started requesting for custom cakes. At one point, a friend challenged Dra. Cheng to make a cake that looks like a lechon. Now they offer the lechon cake in three sizes.
Super mini (4 inches diameter, 10 inches length) for P1000, mini (4 inches diameter, 14 inches length) for P1500 and regular (7 inches diameter, 18 inches length) for P3000.
They require 50% deposit and at least 3 days lead time for orders. Pick up points are the NBC School of Baking and Cake Decorating or Corner Café along Senga Street in Marikina. They can also deliver but for a fee, depending on the location.
Check out their Facebook page for more details. https://www.facebook.com/NothingbutC
Dra. Cheng says the lechon is super moist chocolate cake inside covered in white chocolate fondant. I am so curious. I am definitely going to order one and bring it to my next party. It’s going to be a hit, for sure!
“Wouldn’t people be disappointed if they find out that the lechon on the table is actually a cake?,” asked photographer Jar Concengco.
That’s the fun part! Hehe!
This reminded me of the burger cake I ordered for my dad’s birthday last, last December. I was so excited to show it off and was so disappointed when my family and friends were not as amazed as I was. ‘Yun pala, akala nila regular na burger lang, haha! All the oooohhs and aaaaahhs came after I explained that it was a cake!
P.S. Ano ba talaga ang spelling, lechon o litson?
