Today, the LTB Philippines Chefs Association handed out the inaugural Culinary Icon Award to Via Mare’s Glenda Barretto. The ceremony was held during the Madrid Fusion Manila Congress.
Before LTB President Fernando Aracama called Mrs. Barretto on stage, two video clips were shown.
The first one was about LTB – its history which dates back to 1979, its mission of improving culinary standards and developing the Filipino culinary professional, and its projects which include the Philippine Culinary Cup, the Culinary Team Pilipinas (I was part of it from 2007 to 2009, naks!), their scholarship program, and various outreach projects.
The second video was about Mrs. Barretto and her unparalleled contribution to the Philippine culinary industry. Her career spans over four decades of being a trendsetter, of proudly promoting local cuisine, of impressing dignitaries, and of inspiring countless lives.
I produced both videos (with big help from Mel and Romel Cortez of Decisive Moments and was thrilled to view them on the giant screens of the SMX Convention Center. The experience never gets old, goose bumps pa rin! I was so anxious before the program, worried about possible glitches. Fortunately, it all went smoothly and our awardee was happy. I am glad I said yes when Chef J. Gamboa offered me this assignment. So grateful to be able to work with LTB Philippines again!

She truly deserves this. Congratulations Ms. Glenda Barretto. Kudos to LTB Philippines for recognizing her contribution to the industry.
I had to go through her portfolio and wow, it was really impressive!
